Your privacy matters to us. NarwhalPod is built on trust, care, and transparency. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using our website or directory, you agree to this Policy and to the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.

Definitions
For clarity:
"User" or "Visitor" means any person who accesses the NarwhalPod website or directory.
"Pod Member" means a service provider who is approved to appear in the directory and is governed by a separate Member Agreement.
"Personal Information" means any information that identifies or can be used to identify an individual.
"Processing" means the collection, use, storage, or sharing of information.
"Services" refers to the independent services offered by Pod Members, not by NarwhalPod.

Who We Are
NarwhalPod is a project and DBA of Narwhal Law and Business Strategy LLC, an Oregon limited liability company and Certified Benefit Company. We operate a directory and community platform that connects nonprofits, small businesses, and changemakers with values aligned service providers.

Independent Providers
Pod Members are independent third party providers. They are not employees, agents, or representatives of NarwhalPod. Any engagement between a user and a Pod Member occurs independently of NarwhalPod. We do not supervise, guarantee, control, or participate in the services that Pod Members provide. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by NarwhalPod and does not apply to the data practices of Pod Members.

Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to operate the directory, maintain the platform, and communicate with users.

Information you provide directly includes contact details such as your name, email address, phone number, and organization. Pod Members may provide profile information such as bios, photos, links, and a description of their services. You may also provide information through forms such as applications, inquiries, or feedback submissions. If you subscribe to newsletters or updates, we collect the information required to send those communications.

We automatically collect certain technical information, including analytics data from Squarespace and Google Analytics. This may include the type of browser you use, the pages you visit, and the amount of time you spend on the site. We use cookies and similar technologies to support analytics and site functionality.

If you interact with NarwhalPod on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn, those platforms may collect information about you according to their own privacy policies.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information.
We do not collect or store full credit card numbers. Payments for Pod Member membership are processed by Stripe or Squarespace Payments.

How We Use Information
We use Personal Information to operate and improve the platform. This includes displaying and managing Pod Member profiles, facilitating community engagement, responding to inquiries, and maintaining accessibility and site security. We also use information to send newsletters, event announcements, and community updates through Mailchimp. We may use aggregated or anonymized information for internal reporting and to understand overall site usage.

We do not sell or rent Personal Information.
We do not share Personal Information for cross context behavioral advertising.

Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable, we rely on your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the platform, contractual necessity for Pod Members, and legal compliance.

Sharing and Disclosure
We share information only with trusted service providers who help operate the platform. These service providers include Squarespace for website hosting, Airtable for database management, Google Workspace for email and file storage, Mailchimp for newsletter distribution, and Stripe or Squarespace Payments for billing. Independent contractors who support coordination or technical needs may also access limited information.

These service providers may store information in multiple U.S. locations. They are required to maintain confidentiality and security and may use the information only for NarwhalPod operations. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of NarwhalPod or its users.

Public Directory Visibility
Pod Member profiles are publicly visible. You should only submit information that you are comfortable sharing with the public.

Links to Other Sites
The directory contains links to Pod Member websites and other third party sites. NarwhalPod is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of those external sites.

Cookies and Analytics
We use Squarespace and Google Analytics cookies to understand how users interact with the site. You may disable cookies through your browser settings. Analytics data helps us improve the platform and is not used to track individual users across the internet.

Do Not Track Signals
Our website does not respond to Do Not Track signals because no industry standard currently exists.

Data Retention and Security
We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to operate the platform or as required by law. We use appropriate technical and administrative safeguards, including encrypted logins and limited internal access, to protect your information.
